Mac client
Installation
If you do not yet have one, first create an account.
Download the Mac .dmg file from the downloads page.
Drag the Virtue icon to the Applications folder to install Virtue.
When the application appears, sign in with your account information.
The Virtue application requires authorization to perform screenshots. After login, you may be prompted to allow this access. Alternately you can manually open System Preferences in the Apple menu then search for “recording”. Look for Virtue in the list of applications requesting permissions and enable the switch next to it. The system may prompt you to restart the service. Click Restart, and also open the Virtue tray application and click Restart service to ensure the application service is restarted with the new permissions.
That’s it! At this point the app will begin to periodically collect and send events and screenshots in the background. To ensure that the service is functioning properly, log in to the application and you should see a new device in your dashboard. Click on the Logs tab and for your device you should start seeing screenshots. A few screenshots should appear within the first 5-10 minutes, and then batches of images should appear every hour.
Usage
To log out and stop sending events and screenshots, click the tray icon and then click “Sign out”. Note that the service will log an alert for logout events.
To stop the service without logging out, right-click (or two-finger-click) the tray application and select “Stop”. Note that the service will log an alert when stopping.
To restart the service, open the Virtue application from the app launcher and log in if necessary.
Uninstall
To uninstall, first right-click the tray application and click “Stop”. Then navigate to the Applications folder in Finder, find the Virtue application, right-click and select Move to Trash. Note that the service will log an alert when uninstalling.
